Keef Hartley was (is) a drummer who was mostly known for being with John Mayall's band at various times, but this album is all about Miller Anderson, a talented singer, guitarist and vocalist that drives this music. Keef Hartley was known as a blues artist, but there's nothing here like that at all.

He contributed to the album ‘Crusade’ before leaving in to form the first line-up of his own band. He recorded a series of classic albums for Decca’s Deram label. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to complete their reissuing of Keef’s Deram catalogue with this newly remastered release of his album ‘Seventy Second Brave’.

A funky and blues masterpiece by KEEF HARTLEY BAND which has grown old well. HEARTBREAKING WOMAN, DON'T SIGN IT and specially the slow HARD PILL TO SWALL elevate the album to first rate British blues/5(7).

This is the third album from the underrated Keef Hartley Band. There had been some line-up changes since the previous year's ` The Battle of North West Six ', which led to a slight change in the nature of the music. There is a slightly greater emphasis on the experimental/jazz feel, and a slight move away form the purer blues sound/5(24).

Keith "Keef" Hartley (8 April – 26 November ) was an English drummer and bandleader. He fronted his own eponymous band, known as the Keef Hartley Band or Keef Hartley's Big Band, and played at Woodstock. He was later a member of Dog Soldier, and variously worked with Rory Storm, The Artwoods and John Mayall.

Halfbreed is a really good album. Notes in accompanying booklet were very interesting, well written and some of the information about the assembling of the band members was very strange (to me). I don't remember if the same information was on the vinyl album cover I had - but I doubt it. Thinking about getting other CD's by Keef Hartley/5(70).
